This whole week, everybody has been talking about the SNOW!!! A blizzard basically hit the northern va/dc/md area for about 2 feet of snow.

I know for all you mid-westerners, northerns, and Canadians are laughing your butts off at us but we *RARELY* get this much snow. We get a few inches at best every season which is nice enough for a good snow day or two but TWO FEET?! We’re NEVER prepared enough or give enough thought to being prepared because we simply don’t get this much snowflakes!

Nonetheless, ENJOY IT. We are living through history! Here is some of the area’s photography of the area. Isn’t it beautiful?!

Things to do when SNOWED IN:

• Make Snow Ice Cream
  • Take two bowls of snow from the freezer and wet one of them thoroughly. Add food coloring to the wet snow, stir and return it to the freezer for sculpturing later. Then transform the “dry” bowl into snow ice cream:3 cups loose, clean snow
    2 tbsp. milk
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla extract

    Mix all the ingredients, sample the result and add more sugar and vanilla extract to taste

• Play Games: Scrabble, Draw my Thing, Texttwist, Card Games (poker, gin, etc.)
• Plan vacations/trips for when it’s warm!
• Catch up on favorite shows: (I think I am caught up but here are some shows I need to check if I am behind or not!)
  • LOST! (new episode!)
  • Weeds
  • Dexter
  • House, MD
  • Fringe
  • Mad Men
  • Grey’s Anatomy
• Bake Cookies or Cupcakes
• READ with a cup of hot cocoa!
• Build a blazing fire!
• File your taxes (what I plan to do)
• Make some yummy warm alcoholic drinks! (hot buttered rum, hot toddy, peppermint, etc.)
• Play video games (bring out that Wii Fit or Rock Band!)
• Find a crazy recipe if you’ve always wanted to cook and finally do it!
